WFC 109

We’re a week and a half away from WFC 109 at Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh, and the fight card has been finalized.

In the main event, Dominic Mazzotta (14-3) will return to his hometown to compete for the first time since 2016. He’ll face Chicago’s Chris Johnson (7-10) in a 140-pound catchweight bout.

Mazzotta had 12 of his first 13 fights as a pro in Pittsburgh, including winning both the bantamweight and featherweight titles under the Pinnacle FC banner during a six-fight winning streak that earned him a Bellator contract in 2017. He’s posted a 2-2 record under the Bellator banner, including wins over Matthew Lozano and Josh Sampo.

“The Honey Badger” is still under contract with Bellator MMA, but has received a one-fight exemption for this bout.

Johnson has been very active, competing nine times since the beginning of 2018. Most recently, he lost a bout against Keith Lee at FFC 38 in June.

In the co-main event, a pair of fighters will compete in their respective pro debuts as Jake Schilling (0-0) takes on Corey Dulaney (0-0).

Schilling posted an 8-2 amateur record and this will be his first bout since topping Mikey Flores at Pinnacle FC 17 last June.

Delaney posted a 5-2 amateur MMA record but hasn’t competed in the sport since 2014. He has posted a 5-9-3 pro boxing record in that time, however.

Also set to make his pro debut is Ethan Hayes (0-0), who will be making his pro debut against Keith Froelich (1-0) at the event. Fadi Shuman (1-1) and Jason Mullen (1-0) will also square off, while Brigid Chase (0-0, 4-2 am) makes her pro debut against Jasmine Jasudavicius (0-0, 4-0 am).

The amateur card is also littered with talent, including two title bouts. Daniel Hague (6-2) will face Seth Shaffer (7-0) for the bantamweight title, while John Leancu (5-1) and Jacob Lowry (4-0) square off for the middleweight title.
