If you have attended a boxing or MMA event in Kentucky or been involved in the sport at any capacity you have encountered Todd Neal. Todd has been a staple at events acting as an inspector for the state. I thought that I had a good resume of fights witnessed live but it is a mere drop in the bucket to what Todd has seen.
I met Todd at my first MMA event back in 2011. He was checking in fighters and to my surprise, knew about my little website at the time. Over the last 8 years we have shared many miles travelling to events from Paducah to Harlan and many stops in between. When I was asked to be a bout inspector on occasion I was able to quote almost verbatim Todd’s fighter’s meeting speech.
To most he was an ally. A man that always looked out for the best interest of the sports community. He was someone you could always ask a question to and get an answer. Starting as an official for boxing many years ago to regulating some big boxing events as well as a pair of UFC events everyone who conducted business in Kentucky appreciated Todd and more than once I’ve heard promoters say they loved coming to Kentucky.
Todd sent out this statement.
I resigned my position with the KBWC on Friday. I want to take a moment to thank everyone for the support and love you have shown me over the last 30 plus years. It is you who are the heart of combat sports in Kentucky. I love you all.
