Justin Steave took to his Facebook today to announce that he will not be competing next week at Pinnacle Fighting Championship. He was scheduled to take on Bobby Emmons of Indiana was the original opponent to square off against Steave. Unfortunately, Emmons suffered an injury during training camp and had to withdraw from the fight.
“Fights off. I won’t be fighting this Wednesday for Pinnacle Fighting Championship,” Steave wrote on his Facebook. According to the status update, Steave was aware of this while the promoters searched for a replacement. Officials with the organization spent the past couple of weeks looking for an opponent. They were not able to find one willing to step up to the plate on relatively short notice. It’s understandable as the Pittsburgh native was coming off an impressive first-round submission win.
I reached out to Steave to see what, if anything, he had planned for the foreseeable future now that he won’t be competing next week. He did mention that he had a few things lined up, but nothing that was set in stone at the moment. “My management is looking into things now,” Steave informed us. “I’d check with my manager … but nothing is official now.”
He did drop a couple of hints at what lays ahead. If things pan out the way, he hopes then we can expect to see great things from “The Hawk.” Of course, only time will tell if these tentative plans pan out as expected. Even though he will no longer be competing at Pinnacle FC 9, he will still be attendance cheering on his teammates and talking with fans.
