One of the most common ways for a fighter to make it into the UFC is via late injury replacement, and Tennessee’s Jacob Kilburn (8-2) will have the opportunity to do just that.

“The Killer” is set to step up on a little more than one week’s notice to face Billy Quarantillo (12-2) at UFC on ESPN 7 on Dec. 7 in Washington, D.C.

Kilburn had an opportunity to break into the UFC last year, but he came up short in about against Bobby Moffett on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series.

But he rebounded in devastating fashion, earning knockout victories over Deivison Ribeiro and Javanis Ross under the Island Fights banner in Florida this year.

Overall, the 24-year-old featherweight has three wins via knockout or TKO and three via submission. He’s ranked as the No. 1 pro featherweight in Tennessee according to Tapology.

Quarantillo earned his way into the UFC through the Contender Series, as he stopped Kamuela Kirk via punches in July to earn a contract. The Florida native comes in riding a five-fight winning streak, and he was also a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter 22.

UFC on ESPN 7 is headlined by a heavyweight bout between Alistair Overeem and Jairzinho Rozenstruik. The fight card also features longtime V3 Fights veteran Bryce Mitchell against Matt Sayles on the preliminary card.
