Honor Fighting Championship 8 lineup set with Isaiah Chapman vs. Donnie Ballou headliner

Honor FC 8

Honor FC 8

We’re still more than two weeks away from Honor Fighting Championship 8, but the full fight card and bout order for the event has been announced.

Honor FC 8 takes place March 23 at Chapparells Community Center in Akron, Ohio, and the main event features a bantamweight bout between Isaiah Chapman (7-3) and Donnie Ballou (5-1).

Chapman will be in action for the first time since October 2017, when he topped Rob Walker at Honor FC 1 via knockout. He was slated to compete for the promotion’s inaugural flyweight title at Honor FC 2 last January, but was unable to make weight for the bout. “The Beast” has competed just once since 2016, when he went on a year-plus hiatus following a second straight loss against Jerrell Hodge. He has four wins via stoppage, including three via (T)KO and one via submission. He’s ranked as the No. 1 pro flyweight and No. 4 bantamweight in Ohio by Tapology.

Ballou returns just seven weeks after avenging his only loss as a pro, as he submitted Rob Walker at HRMMA 105 in February to capture the promotion’s 125-pound title. Ballou suffered a knee injury in his first bout against Walker last year, eventually losing via submission. He’s ranked as the No. 1 pro flyweight in Kentucky.

The co-main event features a matchup of veteran welterweights, as Andrew Law (10-4) and Reggie Merriweather (13-13) square off.

Law competes for just the second time since 2016, as he comes in riding a six-fight winning streak. Most recently, he submitted Mickey Marsack at Honor FC 2 last January. He’s ranked as the No. 2 pro welterweight in Ohio.

Cincinnati’s Merriweather looks to right the ship, as he’s dropped three straight after winning five in a row from 2016-2017. Most recently, he lost a split decision against Que Parks at HRMMA 100 last August.

The event also features Dru Schottenheimer (3-4) vs. Mike Putnam (1-2) in a featherweight bout.

Schottenheimer looks to end a three-fight losing streak dating to 2017. Putnam competes for the first time since coming up short against Scott Clymer at Bellator 186 in November 2017.

The fourth pro bout features Josh Rohler (5-2) taking on Joshua Hill (4-2), also at featherweight.

Rohler comes in off of a win over BJ Young at Ring of Combat 63 last June, and has four submission wins to his credit. Hill comes in from Texas and has just one win in his last three outings after starting his career 3-0.

On the amateur portion of the card, William Ferguson (6-2) will defend his lightweight title against Sean Foster (7-2), while Jeffrey Offak (5-3) and Luke Chokan (5-2) will square off for the flyweight title.
