Four women’s bouts set for Pinnacle FC 16, including first female title fight

Pinnacle Fighting Championships returns next weekend just outside of Pittsburgh, and the promotion has a new look.

The promotion has featured just a few women’s bouts in the past, but with veteran matchmaker Nichole Castillo on board, Pinnacle FC 16 will feature four female bouts, including the first ever women’s title fight.

“I enjoy highlighting the female fighters as well as the male fighters,” Castillo told BluegrassMMA. “I don’t feel as WMMA should be a novelty on a card, but an equal opportunity to shine for all. I’m stoked to have four female bouts on the return of Pinnacle.”

Those bouts will be highlighted by a women’s bantamweight title fight featuring Larkyn Dasch (4-2) vs. Brigid Chase (3-2)

Dasch comes in from Hillsdale, Michigan looking to rebound from just the second loss of her career. After a win over Cherish Brown to kick off the year in February, she came up short against Jayde Sheeley at Alliance MMA earlier this month.

White Viper MMA’s Chase will be fighting in her hometown, as the Pittsburgh native competed four times last year, posting a 2-2 record including a win over Amber Blevins at IT Fight Series 79 in December.

Just 18 years old, Holidaysburg, Pennsylvania’s Sydney Ross (0-0) will make her MMA debut, and she has a big task on her hands against Jackson-Wink MMA’s Lydia Warren (0-0).

A judo brown belt and high school wrestler, there’s a fair amount of hype surrounding the debut of Ross.

Originally from North Carolina, Warren will travel all the way from New Mexico to make her debut. She’ll also have women’s MMA royalty on her side, as former UFC strawweight title challenger Claudia Gadelha is expected to corner her for the fight. She also trains alongside women’s MMA legends like former UFC champion Holly Holm and Michelle Waterson.

At atomweight, Pittsburgh’s Meghan Williams (0-2) looks to pick up her first win, as she takes on New York’s Hailey Hoard (1-1).

And finally, women’s featherweights will be in action as Lydia Babila (0-0) and Cheyenne Hall (0-0) square off.

Pinnacle FC 16 goes down at Printscape Arena in Canonsburg, PA on March 24th. The event streams live via FloCombat. Check out the full card below.
