Hadrock MMA returns to Louisville with a stacked event this Saturday. Expo 5 will play host to four amateur title fights and two big professional bouts including the return of local favorite BJ Ferguson as he meets Chris Dunn in the main event.
Ferguson has won three fights in a row leading up to this. He hasn’t fought in just over a year but was impressive in a win against Derik Byrd last April. Ferguson (11-4) brings a great deal of support with him whenever he fights. He’s always dangerous on the ground but has solid striking which makes him hard to prepare for.
Chris Dunn comes into the fight looking to rebound from a loss earlier this year. Dunn dropped a close decision at Colosseum Combat XXXI back in February to Lloyd Carter. Dunn has excellent cardio and crisp striking to go along with his durability. He’s shown he can go the distance as his last five outings have all went three rounds.
The other professional bout features professional boxer Ruslan Aminov making his MMA debut against Brian Kerr. Kerr is coming off his first professional win against Joe Maiani. This should be a fan favorite as I see this fight being a stand up battle.
Plenty of amateur titles on the line. Youngster Bryan McDowell will defend his welterweight title against undefeated Kevin Snyder. McDowell just successfully defended his Turf Wars title earlier this month. Snyder has four first round finishes under his belt.
A healthy Harry Hunsucker will return to meet David Pinkston in a fight that was set for earlier this year. Injury kept Hunsucker out of the fight back in May. Pinkston has won five in a row while Hunsucker has dropped his last two.
Justin Parks won two fights in one night to capture the Gladiator Promotions title back in April. He will meet Hardrock champ Jason Perry for the bantamweight title. Perry has won three of his last four including a decision over Bruce Duckett to capture his title .
The lightweight title will be on the line as Area 502’s Lance Lawrence defends his belt against Dru Schottenheimer. Lawrence has dispatched all six of his opponents with ease but will meet a well traveled Schottenheimer in this title tilt.
The first fight is slated to kick off at 7:30 p.m. at Expo Five. For ticket information visit HardrockMMA.com. Here is a look at the card, subject to change.
